History
Over 22 years ago, former All-American Basketball Star, Fred Smiley, from Northwood University, along with Rich Walker, now the Assistant Athletic Director at Iowa University, and Eartha Faust, of West Virginia University, were discussing an opportunity that would help the children of Inkster and surrounding areas learn basic basketball skills and fundamental sportsmanship by providing a free basketball camp second to none. With this commitment, INKSTER LEGENDS BASKETBALL CAMP WAS BORN!
Inkster Legends Coaches
Inkster Legends Philosophy
The coaches do a phenomenal job giving of their time and making sure all the practice stations are being conducted similarly and with common goals. These stations are directed by Coach Payne, Coach Fox, and Coach Kilgore.
Proper conduct is enforced. Foul language, jewelry, and 'do-rags' are not tolerated or allowed in the gym. We discuss our philosophy with the parents and guardians that we do not function as 'babysitters'.
Parents, guardians, and participants need to understand that a zero-tolerance is enforced and continuous inappropriate behavior will not be allowed. We have found that each child understands this, and if awarded, a "Best Attitude Award" would be difficult to determine, since all participants agree to this philosophy.
